Private Practice Money helps professionals in private practice take care of their own financial health through online coaching, workshops, groups, and financial self-care.

Money is relational. Money is personal.

Money is deeply linked to our survival, power, and well-being.

And that makes our relationship to money just as complicated, wonderful, and messy as our relationships with ourselves and others.

Private Practice Money combines financial psychology and anti-oppressive theories to support and encourage financial health and money management, so therapists, coaches, doctors, lawyers, and other helping professionals can manage their businesses in ways that align with their values and financial goals.

Welcome! I’m Natalie Spautz (she/her), a Financial Therapist and Coach, and the founder of Private Practice Money.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Financial Therapist with over two decades of experience in the field of counseling and over a decade of experience in private practice.

I created Private Practice Money™ after seeing a need for open conversation, connection, and support to change industry wide oppressive beliefs and attitudes about finances.

To find sustainable ways of managing the challenging impacts of our socioeconomic system on our bodies and minds.

And to build resiliency in the face of learning, struggling, making mistakes, and finding our way beyond the level of just surviving.

This image is a close-up view of a dark-skinned hand typing on a phone calculator, surrounded by papers and stacks of money on a desk.

In addition to my professional background, I have lived experience that led me to this work – helping other professionals in private practice create their own financial health and freedom.

I’m a white, hetero, cisgender woman with chronic illness, who grew up in financial hardship in a single parent household. I have a lot of personal experience struggling with setting realistic and comfortable financial goals. I began running workshops for therapists in 2018 after a long, winding road of working for other people for very little money - or for free.

I’m still unlearning a lot of messages I took in from a young age about finances, and I hope to help other folks release their own unhelpful messages, so you can move beyond survival in our current economic system.

I’m here to tell you it is possible to experience financial wellness while in private practice.

You don’t have to compromise between your autonomy and security.

Whether you join a group or workshop to break out of your money patterns or start one-on-one coaching to prioritize your financial health, you can relate to money in ways that fit your personal values, needs, and long term goals.
